About the Covington Historical Society

The Covington Historical Society is dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history of Covington, Oklahoma and surrounding areas. Our mission includes documenting the lives of past and present area citizens, honoring U.S. military veterans, and providing short-term support such as food and financial assistance for veterans in need. We also offer a free meeting space for the local American Legion and other veteran groups.

Founding members—Leland Miller, R.C. Wilmot, Wilmot Ruth, and Dorothy Murphy—laid the foundation for our society. Since then, we've acquired a property, removed an unusable structure, and purchased a storage container to house the growing collection of over 3,500 historical items, currently stored at the Covington Senior Citizen Center in Covington, Oklahoma.

Our organization is a registered nonprofit. We are funded entirely through community donations raised during events like our chicken and spaghetti dinners.

With your support, we can preserve Covington’s legacy and serve those in need. Thank you for considering a donation.
